John O’Brien is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.  O'Brien currently serves as the legislative liaison for the Cape Cod Chamber, working on public policy issues such as the wind farm proposal and water quality issues.

The Chamber is the acknowledged premier business advocacy group in Barnstable County.  This corporation was reorganized in 1997 as a result of the merger of the regional economic development council and the existing Cape Cod Chamber Of Commerce.  O’Brien was the Executive Director of the Cape Cod Economic Development Council for five years prior to its merger with the Cape Cod Chamber.  He has a background of management experience in the semiconductor industry with ITT and NCR and lengthy involvement in local and state politics.

He graduated from Brown University and holds and Executive Master Degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University.  Additionally, he did graduate work at the Kellogg School of Business Administration at Northwestern and the Atlanta Law School.

He is married to Anne M. O’Brien, the former Director of the Snow Library in Orleans, and they have three sons: John a former Massachusetts state senator from Andover; Tom, who is a Real Estate Developer and the former Director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority; and Bill, who is an Assistant Football Coach at Georgia Tech.

Anne and the three sons are also graduates of Brown University.  The O’Brien’s reside in Harwichport.
