American Express Message

On behalf of all of us at American Express, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the September 11th tragedy and with all Americans during this difficult time.

From a business standpoint, American Express continues to operate fully. Our headquarters near the World Trade Center has sustained damage, but most merchant processing, authorizations and settlements are handled outside of New York .

We have experienced some minor issues in processing transactions with a handful of establishments. If you are having any problems in processing American Express transactions, please call the American Express Merchant Service Center , which is available 24 hours a day, at 800-528-5200. If you have a problem obtaining an approval code, you may obtain a verbal authorization from our Authorization center at 800-528-2121.

American Express is completely dedicated to providing the world-class customer service that our customers have come to expect. If we can be of further service to you, please do not hesitate to contact our Merchant Service Center or your Client Manager.
