Looking to increase business opportunities? The Cape Cod Chambers Business Networking Group may be right for you. The group meets twice a month to share business leads and discuss timely issues affecting the Cape Cod business community. The group currently is looking to expand its membership. For more information please contact Peter Bryanton, VP of Small Business Services, at [email protected] or call 508-790-4980 x532. Business insurance rates have increased drastically since 9/11 and additional changes in the industry are inevitable. The U.S. House of Representatives has recently passed a piece of legislation known as the Terrorism Risk Protection Act which would provide federal financial assistance to the insurance industry as they work through this situation. Next Thursday, December 27, Massachusetts Congressmen Barney Frank and Jim McGovern have offered to come to Fall River to explain the situation on Capital Hill and discuss the concerns of area business owners and insurance professionals. Both congressmen, as well as the president of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents will be present to discuss the impact on business and the federal response. For more information, please go to www.fallriverchamber.com, or contact the Fall River Chamber at [email protected]. The SBA is now accepting training grant applications for very small businesses.
America's smallest businesses will now have access to more training and technical assistance to help them start or grow a business under a new program funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration The PRIME program was created to help the smallest of small businesses by offering
training and technical assistance to low-income and very low-income entrepreneurs with
small businesses of five employees or less. These are entrepreneurs at the most basic
stage of starting a business those who typically require the greatest amount of
committed service and guidance
Entrepreneurs and small business owners who may qualify to receive training or technical assistance under the PRIME program should contact their local SBA district office listed at www.sba.gov/services. Economic Update for October 01 is available on www.ecapechamber.com
