    Our 5th Annual Eye Health Services Cape Cod Golf Classic (to benefit the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce) will be played on the course ranked number 5 in New England by the New England Journal of Golf: the Ocean Course at the Country Club of New Seabury.

    The beautiful and challenging round of golf will be followed by a cocktail reception and awards dinner in the stunning new clubhouse.

    The scramble tournament is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on September 30, 2002. Cost of entry is $175 per player, $700 per foursome. That gets you entry into the event, cart rental, box lunch, cocktail reception, awards dinner, tournament prizes and a special tournament gift pack.

    Advertising Opportunities in Cape Cod Chamber publications

    Advertising rates for all Cape Cod Chamber publication have all been set and mailed out.

    The Official Guide to Cape Cod is our number one tourism guide. Bar none the most recognized, requested and most complete vacation planning directory on Cape Cod. We distribute hundreds of thousands annually on the Cape at ALL information centers and high traffic locations. In the past five months we have sent 36,898 directories to qualified visitors coming to Cape Cod. This is an ideal advertising source for those members that provide accommodations, foodservice, shopping, transportation etc.

    The Official Cape Cod Golf Guide is in its fifth year of publication and it continues to grow and expand. It is, without a doubt, the hidden gem of advertising possibilities for Cape businesses. Over the past two years, its circulation has more than tripled from its initial run of 30,000 copies. It is aimed at the regional golfer who is interested in playing in one of the most unique golfing regions in the country. Cape Cod has 30 golf courses available for public play. Those numbers translate into 1.8 million rounds of golf per year generating over $350 million to the overall Cape Cod economy. The game appeals to people of all walks of life, but is particularly appealing to those people who are deemed to have the most discretionary income in our society. With Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce attendance at no less than eight consumer golf shows throughout the winter and spring, these guides are made directly available to folks from Philadelphia to Toronto, Montreal, Portland, Boston and the Greater New York City area. Last year over 115,000 people attended the shows at which the Chamber had a presence and was distributing the Golf Guide.

    Leadership Institute Accepting Applications for 2003 Program

    The Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod and the Islands (CLI) is now accepting applications for the 2003 Leadership: Cape Cod Program.

    Established on Cape Cod in 1992, CLI fosters development of potential and existing community leaders by educating participants about the issues and resources on Cape Cod, and offering excellent networking opportunities. "CLI's concentrated curriculum helps participants hone their leadership skills while learning about the intricacies of life on Cape Cod," states Richard Schwartz, Chairman of the Board of CLI.

    CLI's six month (14 session) program will begin in January and conclude in June. Participants will meet every other week in sessions covering the economy, government, health care, environment, education, media, diversity, culture and the arts, the legal system, and other topics pertinent to Cape Cod and the Islands. The class also works together on a project to benefit the community. Past projects have included completion of a gingerbread house playscape for Cape Cod Child Development Program, creation of a domestic violence task force, and developing a complete public realtions campaign for Adult Literacy Awareness. Tuition for this CLI program is $500.00.

    81st Annual Meeting A Success!
    The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce hosted its 81st annual meeting on board the M.V. Great Point in Hyannis Harbor on Thursday September 19th. At the meeting new directors were elected for a three year term: Joseph Perkins, president of Communications Management; William Zammer, owner of Cape Cod Restaurants Inc.; Howard Onik, partner, Dockside Hotel Group; Bruce McGregor, president, Sun Transportation; Doreen Bilezikian, owner, Christmas Tree Shops; George Zografos, CEO, Z Donut Company

    Also, elected for a one year term to represent the Cape Cod Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives was Lynne Poyant, Executive Director of the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce.

    Elected for one year as an ex officio member was Kevin M. Howard, immediate past Chairman of the Board of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, of Corcoran Jennison Hospitality.

    Over 265 members and guests were present at the meeting which included a one hour harbor tour.
