Chamber Enters 21st Century With G.I.S. Technology

The arrival of the new millennium also brought with it the addition of Geographic Information System (GIS) capability at the Chamber offices in Hyannis. This powerful computer-based technology that processes demographic and economic information in an "intelligent" map environment will enable the Chamber to provide members and other clients with a host of new, cutting-edge and revenue-generating services and products. With the addition of part-time GIS analyst Michael J. Pessolano and the installation of desktop GIS software, hardware and data, the Chamber is poised and ready to develop, analyze and deliver sophisticated data for area businesses, government and nonprofit organizations.

GIS clients will be able to see new market opportunities, ideal new business locations, customer profiles, characteristics of service areas, detailed consumer spending information by location, off-Cape demographics, business trends by location, competitor information and much more. FREE GIS consultations will be available through the end of February, 2000. Call Michael Pessolano at 862-0700 ext. 529 or email him: [email protected]

How the billions of dollars of federal, state and local funds will be spent on thousands of projects will depend on the results of the census numbers. It is critical that we all participate.
