Cape Cod Transit Task Force Appointed

State Transportation Secretary Kevin J. Sullivan has named 15 people to a Cape Cod Transit Task Force and charged them with developing an action plan to improve public transportation in the region, including two Cape Cod Chamber representatives.

Mark Forest, representing Congressman Bill Delahunt, and Former State Rep. Thomas Cahir, representing Sullivan and the Cellucci-Swift Administration, will serve as co-chairs.

The group was formed in the aftermath of this year's Cape Cod Transit Summit meeting in Hyannis. It has been meeting regularly but informally since then to advance the summit's recommendation for a blueprint to improve public transportation.

The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center of Cambridge has agreed to join the initiative. The Volpe Center is the federal government’s leading voice on solving transportation problems.

Fall Campaign Creative
The Tourism Marketing Committee launched the first campaign of the new fiscal year in late August.  Designed to create interest in visiting Cape Cod during the months of September and October, the campaign included a Boston Globe insert featuring an events calendar for the September to December timeframe.  Overruns of the insert were distributed at information centers and used for mail fulfillment.  A billboard on the Southeast Expressway was installed for one month.  Print ads included the USA Weekend brochure pages, Boston Globe/NY Times brochure pages, Hartford Courant brochure pages, and four-color ads in Boston Magazine, Coastal Living and the BSO Program were reinforced with radio ads on WBZ and WODS.
